Warranty and Returns Policy

1. 7-Day Dead on Arrival (DOA) Guarantee

If a product arrives non-functional, damaged during delivery, or incorrect, customers may request an exchange or refund within 7 days of delivery.

Conditions:

  • The item must not show signs of physical misuse or human damage.
  • The product must be returned with all original accessories, documentation, and packaging.

Proof Requirement:

Customers may be required to provide photo or video evidence demonstrating the issue.

Inspection:

If the issue cannot be confirmed remotely, the product may need to be returned to Hive Controls for inspection.

Resolution:

If the item is confirmed to be Dead on Arrival (DOA), Hive Controls will:

  • Replace the product at no additional cost, or
  • Provide a full refund using the original payment method.

2. 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee

If you ordered the incorrect product or are not satisfied with your purchase, you may request a return within 7 days of receiving the item.

Conditions:

  • The product must be unused and in its original packaging
  • All accessories and documentation must be included
  • The item must be in resalable condition

Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to an incorrect or defective item.

3. Warranty Coverage

Most products sold by Hive Controls include a 12-month limited warranty from the date of purchase.

Products manufactured by certain brands, including Google and Amazon Alexa devices, may carry a 6-month importer warranty depending on supplier terms.

The warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Hardware failure under normal usage conditions

If a product develops a fault during the warranty period, Hive Controls will assess the product and arrange a repair or replacement where applicable.

4. Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

  • Physical damage or accidental drops
  • Incorrect electrical installation
  • Power surges or lightning damage
  • Unauthorized modifications, including firmware flashing or hardware alteration
  • Normal wear and tear from regular use

Products that have been disassembled, modified, or tampered with may have their warranty voided.

Motorized curtain rails that have already been installed or assembled may not be eligible for return unless a manufacturing defect is confirmed.

5. Return Authorization (RMA)

All returns must be approved before being sent back.

Customers must request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) by contacting our support team before returning any product.

Returns sent without prior authorization may be refused.

6. Refund Process

Once a returned product has been received and inspected, Hive Controls will notify the customer of the refund status.

If approved, refunds will be issued using the original payment method.

Typical refund processing times:

  • Credit Card: 5–10 business days depending on the bank
  • EFT or payments processed via PayFast: 3–5 business days

Hive Controls will initiate the refund within 3–6 business days after receiving the returned product.

7. Product Condition & Restocking

Returned products must be in original condition with packaging and accessories.

If a product shows signs of use, missing components, or damaged packaging, Hive Controls may apply a 30% restocking or refurbishment fee after inspection.

8. Liability

Hive Controls is not responsible for damages resulting from improper installation, incorrect electrical wiring, or misuse, or use outside manufacturer guidelines.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that devices are installed according to manufacturer instructions or by qualified professionals.
